Training Need Analysis TNA is conducted prior to the commencement of training course to assess the grey areas of the potential training and to meet the training objectives.
Curriculum Designing Curriculum is specifically designed for every course by Training Development Unit (TDU) of the College based upon the findings of training need analysis.
Hard and Soft Skills In order to focus the practicability of a course, the trainees are made to learn hard skills (driving, speed-measurement etc.) and soft skills (dealing, politely etc.) effectively.
Instructional Methodology The use of Power-Point presentations and multimedia projectors coupled with participatory methods of instruction make the desired training objective achievable.
Evaluation A comprehensive mechanism of internal and external evaluation is devised to get the feed back of the training process.
Training Abroad The officers of the department have been sent intermittently to the developed counties like England, Germany and France to enrich their experiences and improve their skills by studying developed traffic management systems. The process of sending the officers abroad for training is still going on.
Training by Foreign Professionals The College has hosted several capacity building and skill enhancing courses by foreign professionals coming from USA, Austria, United Kingdom and France. The aim of these courses is to prepare Mater Trainers who can further replicate these courses.
External Training The training of Punjab Traffic Police, Balochistan Highway Police, Islamabad Traffic Police and Punjab Traffic Wardens are on the credit list of NH&MP Training College which is a testimony of its higher standards of training.
Capacity Building Courses The College holds a variety of Capacity Building Courses for officers of its department to refresh, nurture and polish their abilities in the very arena where in they are working.
Promotional Courses Four promotional courses, i.e. Advance Class, Upper Class, Intermediate Class and Lower Class are being held for the officers of different ranks which are mandatory for every promotion. These trainings are meant to prepare the officers for the responsibilities they are going to assume.
Training by Private Organizations A constant liaison is maintained with non-governmental organizations to keep abreast of the latest relevant capacity building courses. Partnership with ROZAN, in developing modules on Attitudinal Change, is an example of it.
NH&MP Training College, since its inception in 1997, has earned the respect and trust of all the compatriots through its outstanding performance, courteous attitude and corruption-free practices. NH&MP distinguished itself in its organization and culture from other police organizations in Pakistan. The NH&MP area of responsibilities has tremendously expanded entailing new questions as well as challenges. This requires, among other things, better training and development of NH&MP officers to cope with existing and emerging requirements. Keeping this in view, a Training Development Unit headed by DIG/Commandant has been established with following mandate and objectives:
The Mandate of TDU
Under the supervision of Commandant NH&MP Training College, the TDU is mandated to ensure quality in academic content and material with a continued process of improvement. Keeping in view the NH&MP Key Performance Areas(KPA), the existing curriculum shall be regularly reviewed by the TDU on the basis of TNA (Training, Need and Analysis) and TDU will make efforts to keep the curriculum up-to-date and at par with international standards.
The Objectives of TDU
The objectives of TDU are to:
1 Review the existing curricula and add new required course contents.
2 Develop modules and the respective lesson plans for different subjects, based on KSA (Knowledge, Skill and Attitude) model.
3 Prepare class room presentations for each developed module.
4 Develop relevant training material (Audio/Video aids etc.).
5 Develop pre-tests and post-tests for each subject.
6 Develop trainee handy card material for different subjects.
7 Develop trainee handouts (wherever necessary).
8 To keep watch for any kind of discriminatory material, biased ideas and misinformation in the curriculum.
9 Devise training of trainers' plans to enhance the skills of instructors.
10 Conduct regular meetings to improve training plans, evaluate contents of each course and (suggest) modifications, if required.
To improve the training process, TDU is responsible to observe and ensure the fulfillment of each performance objective as per given standards. TDU has initiated Train the Trainer (TOT) program for instructors in order to build their capacity. TDU also observes the facilitation and learning environment of the College and makes suggestions in this regard which are forwarded to the concerned quarters for approval and implementation.

Information collected from above mentioned sources is scrutinized and arranged in different Brain Storming sessions of faculty members in order to continuously revise and update the training needs of each course. Targeted tasks, which need improvement, are weighed on the basis of their frequency and importance. Through this process, new and revised curricula are developed to impart proper knowledge, skills and abilities.
Once the performance objectives are identified and validated through review process, curricula are developed to achieve those objectives. Performance objectives are clustered according to the training areas i.e. law & legal, NH&MP practical work, investigation etc. Specific training programs are developed, keeping in view the importance of each area.
